While there is only one species of Venus flytrap, Dionaea musciplua, we have developed a wide variety of cultivars. These cultivated varieties vary in color, size, and trap shape. 'King Henry' is a notably larger variety of flytrap, growing traps up to 2 inches in length. It is a strong and vigorous grower, quickly reaching those massive sizes.
Venus flytraps are a beginner friendly plant, the care instructions for which can be found here. They do require a dormant period to ensure healthy plants, information on how best to achieve that can be found here. In most of the US, this can easily be achieved by simply leaving them outdoors!
All carnivorous plants are pet safe, so no worries here! These plants are much more dangerous to insects.
