Tillandsia latifolia is native to Equador and Peru where it grows in arid to semi arid environments from sea level to about 11,500ft in elevation. This species can grow as an epiphyte, as most to all other air plants do, or as a lithophyte, growing on rocks rather than other plants. While this air plant is a slow grower, it will eventually put out a long lived inflorescence. Detailed care instructions can be found here and will be sent along with the plant.
Air plants are pet safe, so no worries here! I will often warn cat owners that many air plants are also cat toy shaped! They make perfect additions to topical reptile and amphibian enclosures. They are best secured with fishing line for easy removal should the plants need additional care or to be moved around the enclosure to assist with enrichment.
