Sundews (Drosera spp.) are carnivorous plants that catch their prey with sticky "dew" rather than the snapping jaws of its relative, the Venus flytrap. Their dew glitters in the sunlight atop red tentacles on their leaves. Sundews can move, though the amount of movement varies from species to species and can vary from just the tentacles to the entire leaf tying itself in a knot to prevent the prey from escaping.

Drosera filiformis is a fantastic temperate sundew that can be found in bogs along the east coast from Florida to New York. While this does make it a PA native plant, it is not one that you can plant in your typical backyard. These plants can only survive in bogs, a type of wetland that has incredibly nutrient poor soils. That being said, they are easy to keep in pots and make fantastic beginner friendly plants! Care information can be found here and information about dormancy can be found here

Carnivorous plants are pet safe, so no worries here! They pose much more of a risk to insects.

Photos are representative and some natural variation should be expected. Plants will be shipped bare root.
