Also called the Star of Bethlehem, these orange flowers are a happy sign of spring! Their flowers look like a hybrid between tulips and hyacinth. These flowers grow naturally in the Cape Province of South Africa. These bulbs are hardy from zones 7-11. In colder zones, they can be lifted and stored in a cool, dry space to be replanted in spring or forced indoors for earlier blooms. They can also be enjoyed indoors. Place your star of Bethlehem in an area where it will receive bright light and water when the soil is 50-75% dry.
Sun stars are not pet safe and should be kept out of their reach. They can do well in tropical reptile enclosures where they will not receive too much consistent water, such as in dart frog enclosures or next to water bowls. This will risk rot.
Plants will be shipped bare root and are suitable for 4 inch pots or for planting in the garden. Photos are representative and some natural variation should be expected.
