Sarracenia 'Green Monster' was made by crossing S. minor x leucophylla. They're anthocyanin free, meaning there is no red pigment in these plants, only green and white! The white windows at the top of the pitchers contrast nicely with the bright green tubes. The hood is wide and ruffled, drooping forward. The lip and the lid both follow a downward pitch adding to the interest, especially in large numbers.
American pitcher plants, or Sarracenia, are found in bogs all along the east coast of the USA from Mexico into Canada. They are hardier than you think! Here in Pittsburgh, these plants can be kept outdoors the majority of the year and only need protection in the coldest months. It is not recommended to grow these plants indoors. Detailed care information will be sent along with your purchase which can be found here and dormancy information here.
Plants will be sent bare root. Typical potting soil that contains fertilizers are not suitable for carnivorous plants. Carnivorous plant soil can be found here.
