Neoregelia 'Hot Embers' is a cross of [(carolinae variegated x 'Hannibal Lecter') x 'Tiger Cub'] x 'Punctate Red' coming from Costa Rica. Some Neoregelia species can grow quite large, but this is a minniature cross, only getting to about 3-4 inches in diameter. Neoregelia spp. are close relatives of bromeliads and require the same care, which can be found here. If kept in brighter light, the red flushing will become more prominent than if kept in a dimmer area of the home. Neoregelia can tolerate moderate to low light conditions, but thrive in bright indirect light.
Members of the bromeliad family, Bromeliaceae, are pet safe- so no worries for our furry friends! Bromeliads and their relatives are great additions to tropical enclosures, especially for dart frogs. They can either be mounted on the background or wood accents in the enclosures, or planted into the soil.
Plants will be shipped bare root and are suitable for a 4 inch pot. Photos are representative, some variation is to be expected.
