This cactus is native to the rocky arid regions of Northeastern Mexico. This is a smaller species of cactus, only reaching an approximate size of 6 inches tall and wide when mature. Pink flowers bloom in a ring around the top of the plant, typically in spring and summer, though can happen any time of year if always grown indoors. Give your cactus as much light as possible, either with a grow light or a bright southern facing window. Water only when the soil is 100% dry.
Mammillaria species are pet safe, so no worries here! Be mindful of the spines that will likely cause a stick for curious pets. The spines make this plant unsafe for reptile enclosures.
