Common yarrow is an herbaceous perennial native across the continental US. Often confused with Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota), yarrow can be found growing in many of the same areas. The leaves can be crushed to be used as a styptic, among other applications. The fern-like leaves are soft to the touch and provide interesting visual texture to the garden before the flowers bloom from late spring into summer. Flowers can be cut to use in arrangements or dried to enjoy throughout the seasons. This plant is a local ecotype of SW Pennsylvania and no cultivated varieties were used in the production of these plants.
