Milkweed is the only plant Monarch Butterflies can eat in their caterpillar stage, meaning it is integral for their survival! There are many species of milkweed, but Asclepias tuberosa, also called Butterfly Weed or Butterfly Milkweed is one many include in their gardens. It stays small, ranging 2-4' tall and can tolerate drought once established. Specialized bees and butterflies enjoy their fragrant orange blooms that appear in summer. The occasional hummingbird may drop by for a snack, too! Butterfly Weed's stout size makes this plant suitable for small spaces and container friendly. If all you have is a patio, you can still add some native plants several stories up! You will likely still see lots of pollinators in the sky. Milkweed is deer and rabbit resistant.

Asclepias tuberosa is hardy in zones 3a-9b. Organic seeds are collected from a SW PA population. About 75 seeds per packet.
