Alocasia reginae is one of the more exotic of the Alocasia with its true silver leaves. The leaves have the potential to grow up to 12 inches in length, making this one a sizable plant when it reaches its mature size. The leaves themselves are thick and almost rubbery. Like other plants, ones with thicker leaves are more tolerant of dry soil conditions. Place this plant in an area where it will receive moderate to bright light and water when the soil is about 75% dry.
While members of the Alocasia genus, like other Aroids, have insoluble calcium oxalates, which make them unsafe for cats or dogs, as they cause mouth irritation and GI upset, they are a fantastic addition to tropical bioactive enclosures! Reptiles can tolerate these crystals and often will leave the plants alone. Their leaves are thick enough to hold mature geckos and most frogs.
Plants will be shipped bare root and are suitable for a 4 inch pot. Photos are representative and some variation should be expected.
