Alocasia cuprea 'Red Secret' can look like an oil slick in the right light! The metallic leaves are a deep reddish purple color. The ridged leaves at their mature size of 1-2' tall and wide will truly be a statement plant in any collection! Like other alocasia, place your red secret where it will receive moderate to bright light indoors, and water when the soil is between 50-75% dry. Alocasia can tolerate low light conditions.
While members of the Alocasia genus, like other Aroids, have insoluble calcium oxalates, which make them unsafe for cats or dogs, as they cause mouth irritation and GI upset, they are a fantastic addition to tropical bioactive enclosures! Reptiles can tolerate these crystals and often will leave the plants alone. Their leaves are thick enough to hold mature geckos and most frogs.
Plants will be shipped bare root and are suitable for a 4 inch pot. Photos are representative and some variation should be expected.
