Calathea are part of the prayer plant family, Marantaceae. They even share the characteristic moving leaves. During the day, their leaves are down to catch the sun's rays, but at night, they fold upward, almost as if they are folding their hands in prayer. Prayer plants can tolerate low light, but appreciate bright, indirect light and should be watered when they are about halfway dry. For more detailed care information, click here. This species has been reclassified to Goeppertia burle-marxii from Ctenanthe burle-marxii. This plant also goes by the name Blue Ice Calathea
Everything in Marantaceae is pet safe, so no worries here! They fit perfectly into a tropical reptile or amphibian enclosure. For nocturnal animals, they provide safe spaces to sleep and get out of the way for the late night zoomies!
Plants will be shipped bare root and are suitable for the size pot chosen. Photos are representative and some natural variation should be expected.
