Drosera prolifera, or the hens and chicks sundew, is one of the "Three Sisters of Queensland" and is endemic to Queensland's tropical rainforests- quite the different environment compared to most other sundews! This species will send out runners with plantlets at the end, similar to that of strawberries. This is still an easy care sundew, but they are unique among already unique plants.

With this different environment comes different care than other sundews. They cannot thrive in as much sun as a typical sundew and do much better in bright, indirect light, similar to that of most houseplants. They still require distilled, rain, or reverse osmosis water and must stay wet. It is best to keep them in a tray and keep that tray filled with water. Drosera prolifera does best in high humidity and appreciate warmth, but can tolerate cool. Do not allow your sundew to drop below 50F.

All carnivorous plants are pet safe, so no worries here! They are much more dangerous to smaller insects. A care sheet will be sent with the plant.

Plants will be sent bare root. Their sensitive roots require specific, nutrient poor soils. The soil can be purchased here.
