Canna lilies are perhaps one of the most tropical looking plants you can get in a temperate climate. Rhizomes are an underground stem, colloquially called "bulbs" though they are not true bulbs. They should be planted in early spring after the last hard frost and either lifted in fall or heavily mulched to prevent freezing. Height can range from two feet tall to six feet tall. They grow best in full sun in an area with lots of water. As marginal plants, they are a perfect addition to ponds but also do well in a flower bed setting. Hummingbirds frequent these tropical flowers.
Size may vary, but growth is guaranteed.
