Drosera hamiltonii is an Australian species of sundew that is native to southwestern Australia. Do not allow this species to experience temperatures lower than 40F. They are easily kept as tropical species. This is a wonderful, easy species to grow, so long as they are kept consistently wet with distilled water and given plenty of bright light. The brighter the light, the redder the plant!

Plants in the genus Drosera are carnivorous, meaning they capture and digest prey! Sundews have red, glandular tentacles that secrete sticky muscilage. When an insect lands on these hairs, they struggle against the stickiness and the plants will curl more tentacles toward the prey in order to secure their meal. Common prey are fungus gnats, mosquitoes, fruit flies, no-see-ems, and other small insects.

The roots of this plant are incredibly sensitive and should only be watered with rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis water. To read more about care, click here. A care sheet will also be sent with the plant. Should you want to repot your plant, be sure to use carnivorous plant soil to protect the roots. The soil can be purchased here.

Plants will be sent in 2.5 inch pots.
