Sometimes called the lightning jewel orchid, Macodes petola is a stunning plant overall! The leaves truly glitter in the sunlight and the contrasting veins of the otherwise dark leaves are like lightning striking across the sky. Jewel orchids are among the easiest and most beginner friendly orchids out there. Place these plants in an area where they will receive moderate to bright indirect light and water when the soil is about 50-75% dry. They make perfect additions to terrariums with their interesting foliage and small size! Though grown for their foliage, the flowers will appear on tall stalks. The flowers are mostly brown with hints of white.
Orchids are pet safe, so no worries here! This variety will make a fantastic addition to any tropical enclosure for a reptile or amphibian, as well. Due to their small size, it may be best to keep them in the front of the enclosure where they will be seen.
Plants will be shipped bare root and are suitable for a 2 inch pot. Photos are representative and some natural variation should be expected.
