Sarracenia 'Art's Surprise' is possibly a hybrid between S. leucophylla and S. flava, but the true cross is unknown. This plant is a vigorous, strong grower and not one to fall over in strong winds. It divides well and will fill larger pots to the brim with tall, attractive pitchers. For those who appreciate the subtle patterns, 'Art's Surprise' has faint white spots, accented with thin red veins in the throat. The hood is ruffled and comes to a point.

American pitcher plants, or Sarracenia, are found in bogs all along the east coast of the USA from Mexico into Canada. They are hardier than you think! Here in Pittsburgh, these plants can be kept outdoors the majority of the year and only need protection in the coldest months. It is not recommended to grow these plants indoors. Detailed care information will be sent along with your purchase which can be found here and dormancy information here

Plants will be sent bare root. Typical potting soil that contains fertilizers are not suitable for carnivorous plants. Carnivorous plant soil can be found here
