Cape sundews are one of the most beginner friendly plants out there! They are a wonderful place to start with carnivorous plants, as well as with plant care in general. The Dark Maroon variety has some of the most intense, deep reds on any sundew. The dark leaves are accented beautifully with the glittering mucilage that gives these plants the name sundew. Drosera capensis is a tropical species. The lack of a necessary dormancy period makes them great choices for indoor spaces where they will capture small insects like gnats, fruit flies, mosquitoes, and the occasional housefly.
All carnivorous plants are pet safe, so no worries here! They are much more dangerous to smaller insects. A care sheet will be sent with the plant and can be accessed here.
Plants will be sent bare root. Their sensitive roots require specific, nutrient poor soils. The soil can be purchased here.
